International filmmakers & Swedish artists' residency 2025

Updated: 1 day ago

curated by Laura Bianco

This year's residency brings to Tranås two international filmmakers and two Swedish artists!

Allison Beda
Allison Beda

Experimental humourist filmmaker, Conceptual Sculptor and Dada Gallerist who loves joyful guerilla art interventions, turning difficult life experiences into comedic works of art, and working with what you have. Allison Beda’s film art is deeply personal, darkly comic, subversively feminist and Allison’s conceptual sculptures question what art is and who gets to decide. Allison is deeply committed to collaborating across art forms and bringing the work to audiences in unique ways to create memorable viewing experiences. Allison’s award winning work has been exhibited internationally at festivals, in theaters, on television, in art galleries, on billboards, in the metro and even at the Olympic games. Allison holds BA in film from Simon Fraser University, an MFA from the University of BC, and has lectured at Emily Carr University of Art + Design, SFU, and UBC.

Mx Beda is extremely interested in experimenting with new models of exhibition that bypass traditional gatekeepers and encourage artists to help each other get their work out into the world, fostering a dialogue about artistic practice and exhibition, sharing discoveries and contributing to the evolution of art making. Allison is the founder/curator of Fake gALLeRY DADA tiny ART SHOW +WORLD TOUR which is presently touring the world with miniature works of over 30 underrepresented international artists.

Mx. Beda lives and works on the unceded and traditional territory of the xwməθkwəyə̓m (Musqueam), səlilw̓ ətaɁɬ (Tsleil- Waututh) and Sḵwxw̱ ú7mesh Úxwumixw (Squamish Nation).
