The Wiels Marsh emerged when excavation work for a real estate project pierced the water table, before being halted by the 2008 financial crisis. This accident allowed for the emergence of an ecosystem in the heart of the ruins of industrial capitalism. Insects, birds, and humans coexist in this refuge where life and magic resist.

The work begins with a rupture in belief. After discovering a photograph of Kaali, a figure the artist had long carried as an imagined memory, the boundary between dream and reality begins to collapse. In parallel, she returns to the multiple homes she once lived in with her father, standing outside their gates in the same position Kaali once occupied: paused, outside, uncertain of entry. Moving through memory, repetition, and fragmented time, the film unfolds like a dream, where images loop, distort, and resist resolution.

You're Gorgeous

In this meditative, hybrid documentary, filmmaker Leonard Peters sets off on a journey through the Swedish mountains. Through a landscape both internal and external, he seeks to locate himself within the contours of a deepening love. Drawn by a need to understand his place in his partner Onni’s life, Leonard turns to the fragments of memory: 8mm family films, an old Finnish house, and the quiet presence of nature. His search leads him to Sofia, a mountain guard who encourages him to listen more closely to the world around him. She introduces him to Old Tjikko the world’s oldest tree whose roots echo with resilience and time. Through moments of solitude and connection, Leonard attempts to root himself emotionally, geographically and ancestrally. As he spends time in Onni’s grandfather’s home, browsing through inherited images and gestures, Leonard reflects on belonging, aging and the subtle intimacies that shape a shared life. You’re gorgeous is a cinematic love letter to Onni, a lyrical encounter with nature and history, and a reflection on what it means to carry the stories of others in order to more deeply understand once own.

Oh Be A Fine Girl Kiss Me

A soul waits to be reincarnated while reflecting back on her past life as a nun, who worked at the Vatican Astronomical Observatory in early-20th century. There, she took part in the “Carte du Ciel” — an ambitious international project to map the night sky, earning the early title of “computer” as a result of processing repetitive calculations. Disillusioned with her previous existence, she considers becoming a coder in her next life, amidst the wave of economic optimism awaiting her reincarnation in 1990s Portugal.

Shot in 16mm film and smartphone, Oh Be a Fine Girl Kiss Me blends historical fiction and autobiography in a meditation on life’s choices and constraints, as well as on the systems and categories that shaped modernity.

Hollowgram

Hollowgram conjures varicolored clusters of swirling images and sounds from places real and not as if looking through a flip book in a dream. Narratively the film pilots the tension between the desire to share memories and possibilities with another and the failure of the attempt. The soundscapes are crafted from wilds sound captured in Romania and are core components of the film’s emotional space. Conceptually layered over, a defiant authorial selfhood responds to the outside interrogations that punch in, “Who do you think you are?”. After all, who is a person that exists in parallel cultural and geographical timelines; one bound in professional career development and another where one can move freely with the joy of being alone, unknown, and unpressed.

The Smile Statue, awarded to the kindest children in the class, becomes a symbol of something darker. A hummed melody conveys emotions indescribable by words, as images of snow and ice give way to flowing water and wings carrying.
