Ella Morton

Ella Morton is a Canadian visual artist and filmmaker. Her expedition-based practice has brought her to residencies and projects across Canada, as well as in Iceland, Denmark, Norway and Finland. She uses experimental analogue processes to capture the sublime and fragile qualities of remote landscapes. Originally from Vancouver, she earned a BFA from Parsons School of Design (New York, NY) and an MFA from York University (Toronto, ON). Her films have screened internationally, including the Antimatter Media Art Festival (Victoria, BC), the Arctic Film Festival (Svalbard, Norway), the Alchemy Film & Media Arts Festival (Hawick, Scotland), the Peripheries Experimental Film & Video Festival (Boston, MA) and the Kinoskop Festival of Experimental Analog Cinema (Belgrade, Serbia). Ella has received grants from the Canada Council for the Arts, the Ontario Arts Council, the British Columbia Arts Council and the National Film Board of Canada.
