Bariane Louise Rowlands was born in North Liverpool in 1969 and grew up amongst the demise, political turmoil and riots that coloured the North in the 70’s and 80’s and in a complicated domestic situation that led her to leave Liverpool alone at the age of 15. After having a daughter when she was 19 Bariane later went to collage acquiring the necessary qualifications to gain access to university where she studied Theatre Theory, Interdisciplinary literature, Creative Writing and Linguistics. Post degree she began travelling, exploring painting, photography but all the time writing and went on to have a second daughter. Today, she is 53, lives in Carmarthen, is a writer, a singer/song writer and is an eclectic person battling with several disabilities and a history which she reflects in her short stories and poetry.

Akio YUGUCHI (1985) is a documentary filmmaker, currently working at the United Nations in Switzerland as a Video Officer. He will screen his self-reflective films "Avec" (2014, 18min) and "homecoming" (2015, 29 min) which were also screened in Tranås from 2019-2021. Akio will present his interests in a poetic documentary with individual stories that encompass social, environmental and political affairs. He has an idea for a short film which he would like to work on as part of his residency programme. This would focus on a theme of the ageing society in Sweden that he started to deal with in a village in Japan initiating a 50-year documentation project. Akio would like to visit some nursing homes in Tranås with a view to interviewing a resident and possibly her family

Nature speaks to those who know how to listen to it.

Astronaut/2x2m is a multimedia workshop around the theme of the pandemic and its impact on people's daily lives, emotions, and mental health. We will use the mediums of modern dance and performance, scenography, stop motion video, and literature to express our own experiences during the pandemic.
What had we felt and thought during those days? What were the routines we had? The imagined space is a room of 2x2m in which we would try to stage those emotions and thoughts. The outcome depends on the participants, but it would be multimedia work: performance and projections of video/images/collages.
Everyone with an interest is welcome. No prior experience is needed. We will work in both English and Swedish. The workshop is cost-free.

CAMERA POETRY: One should never forget that video cameras, like all image-making tools, are never neutral devices. They always show us their unique point of view and perception of reality.

HYPNAGOGIA: In that transitional state from wakefulness to sleep, images start to appear.
Memories? Phantasies? Other worlds?

Cartwheeling into the fabric of space-time, Navigate reshapes the universal feeling of being an outsider. Shadow puppets, movement and soundscape construct the fantastic journey of a mysterious pirate captain off the edge of the world. This show is for people who feel like science isn’t for them and for all of us figuring it out on our own. And of course, the lesson is that we aren’t actually alone. You need a crew to navigate a magical sailing ship through outer space. So welcome aboard!

Imagining the future and the past.

The play tells the story of Tessa, a highly successful criminal lawyer who believes in the legal system and knows that there is no place for emotions in the law. She is not a member of the privileged class like many of her colleagues, but she is a good lawyer who has successfully completed her law education, takes her job very seriously and succeeds in the male-dominated field of law. To win, it is enough to believe in the rules. Tessa is someone who likes to win, even defending her clients who are on trial for sexual assault. Her commitment to the system and the law trumps her feminism. But when the day comes and the roles change and she has to go to the other side and defend herself as a victim, she realizes how cruel she has been to other women in the past.
